Texas bookstores are opening, closing, transitioning and celebrating. Read on!

 

Austin

Drew’s Bookstore in the Webberville Food Truck Park has closed.

 

Burnet

Title Euphoria, a new and used bookstore, opened their physical location after beginning as a mobile bookstore. They host book clubs, robotics workshops, author book signings, and more.

 

Eagle Pass

Beetle Books celebrated their grand opening in early May in the historic Riskind Building.

 

Fate

We stumbled across new-to-us bookstore Leather & Bound, a bookstore and coffee shop “where every sip tells a story.” They offer book clubs, author signings, and more.

 

Fort Worth

Recluse Books, a new and used bookstore, opened on April 26th. 

 

Houston

Blue Willow Bookshop was on USA Today’s list for 10 Best Independent Bookstores

 

Kindred Stories moved to a new location at 2310 Elgin Street in the historic Eldorado Ballroom. They held a grand opening for the new location on May 17. 

 

Lufkin

The Chapter Books & Gifts opened in June with a book signing by author Erin Cuccio.

 

Longview

Books & Barrels announced that they are closing their brick and mortar store. They do plan to remain active through Bookshop.org as they transition to something “new and fun.” 

 

Lumberton

Boss Lady Books transitioned from a mobile bookstore to a physical location. Owner Amy Isbell worked in conjunction with CJ’s Cookie Counter to create a space where books, cookies, and coffee come together. The new location opened on April 11.

 

Midland

Main Squeeze Midland plans to relocate to the Ally Village shopping center at 200 Spring Park Dr. The move will provide greater floor space, increased parking, and will pave the way for adding wine and soda offerings.

 

Montgomery

The Dusted Shelf, a new woman-owned bookstore, recently opened its doors in Montgomery. With a stock of books, table-top games, apparel, bookish gifts, and more, they strive to help book lovers connect over their shared passion.

 

Pantego

Pantego Books announced that the store will be closing, effective May 31.

 

Other Industry News

Barnes & Noble announced that they are closing an older model store in Plano and opening stores in their newer, smaller footprints in Rockwall and Prosper. The Rockwall store should open in late summer and the Prosper store in the fall.
