“Preserving the traditions of the American West in words and music”

More than sixty poets and musicians from all over Texas and as far away as California, Canada, and North Carolina will converge on the campus of Sul Ross University in Alpine February 22-23, 2019 for the 33rd Annual Texas Cowboy Poetry Gathering.

The gathering kicks off each morning at 7:30 a.m. with a Chuckwagon Breakfast ($5) of cowboy coffee, eggs, hot biscuits, and gravy served from an authentic chuck wagon at Poet’s Grove in Kokernot Park.

The daytime sessions are free with the exception of the Cowboy Celtic and Cowboy Humor sessions which are $10 each. Most daytime sessions are held in classrooms. Three to four performers share these fifty-minute sessions, with nine to ten sessions running concurrently.

At 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, two-hour performances showcasing featured performers are held in Marshall Auditorium. There is a $15.00 charge for these events. Attendees may also support the gathering by becoming a sponsor or co-sponsor of a performer or by purchasing an event pin for $10.

Saturday-night dance tickets benefiting the Crisis Center are $20 each.
