Azle

The Reading Rabbit held its grand opening in April. A family-owned bookstore, they work to foster a community of book lovers.

 

Brownsville

Sunrise Mall announced that a new Barnes & Noble is coming to the mall. We’ll keep you posted when a timeline is announced.

 

Corpus Christi

The Cookie Plot Romance Bookstore & Bakery held a soft opening in April. Open Thursday-Sunday for now, the store offers

 

Houston

Kindred Stories announced in a social media post that they are moving to a new and larger location across the street from their current site.

 

Mineral Wells

Glass Castle Books announced that they are considering selling their business in the hopes that it can continue to serve the community. With family changes on the horizon, they cannot continue to support the store in the manner it deserves.

 

New Braunfels

The Book Haus reopened after a two year closure. They reopened on Independent Bookstore Day in April and are looking forward to returning to the community.

 

Plano

Bibliobar hosted a grand opening at their new location on 15th Street in Plano on Independent Bookstore Day with author signings, live music, and more. After time as a pop-up bookshop and a stall in the Plano Shopping Co-Op, they had to close when the Co-Op shut down in 2024. Owner Chelsea Tresp is confident that this new space will be the perfect home.

 

OTHER INDUSTRY NEWS:

The Larry McMurtry Literary Center opened in Archer City in early March. The former Booked Up bookstore, the new literary center carries the mission of furthering McMurtry’s legacy and providing writing workshops and educational opportunities in his former community.
